Are you interested in technology, enrolled at a university and interested in doing an internship or a mentored thesis in a modern, highly functional environment with state-of-the-art technology? Then come along to the Innovation Garage!

The possibilities

  • Work with the very latest technologies, such as 5G, Narrowband-IoT, LTE broadcast, V2X and 3D modelling.
  • Use state-of-the-art network equipment such as 5G routers, the GigaCube, networked and virtual servers.
  • Work with devices such as boards, modules, wearables and 3D printers.
  • Use the latest camera systems, including action cams, drones, virtual reality and 360° cameras.
  • Develop websites, apps (iOS/Android) and applications.

Technology has no gender

But technical occupations still attract far more men than women. We hope to change that by encouraging talented women to join us and pursue a career in the tech industry. Female students can develop their potential by working on tech projects at the Innovation Garage. We believe that equality and diversity in the work environment are key innovation drivers.

For the first time, a final thesis could be carried out in collaboration within the Innovation Garage, with each of us having different focuses within the topic. "The internship at the Innovation Garage inspired me to write my bachelor and master's theses here. I learned a lot of things about mobile communications technology and had the opportunity to apply my own know-how in innovative software development, drone, AR and VR projects. I wrote my bachelor's thesis on controlling unmanned aircraft via mobile communications technology. In fact, my showcase was at CeBIT 2017 - which was my first experience of exhibiting at a trade fair. After graduating I was lucky enough to be offered a job in technology innovation. "The Innovation Garage offers all students the opportunity to develop their soft and hard skills. Anshita (on the right in the photo) and I had been working together on a software as we both needed to implement some features for our project work. During my internship, I mostly assisted the IoT team with programming and worked on localization through low-power technologies. "I didn't have any specific technical know-how, but I'd always been interested in bridging the gap between technology and business. A business model innovation internship at the Innovation Garage was the perfect opportunity to link the two. I was assigned to developing scalable business cases based on technical use cases. Previous knowledge

Do you like new technologies? Great - because Innovation Garage internships are technology oriented. That's why a high level of technological understanding is a requirement. We also prefer our interns to be undergraduates in telecommunications engineering, industrial engineering or IT.

You're welcome to apply for one of our non-technical internships if you have a different background. We also offer internships in areas such as marketing and strategy development.

Applications and pay

It's best to apply 1 to 3 months in advance. We will need you to send us:

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Certificates: high school diploma and latest university transcript of grades
  • Your current university enrolment certificate

If you are applying for a mandatory internship as part of your degree course we will require proof from your university. We pay EUR 1,000 per month for mandatory internships and the minimum wage for voluntary internships.
