The future of 5G at a glance
A large number of antennas in the base station antenna array cater spatial separated users in the same time and frequency resource. Indirect transmission between the antenna and the user terminal are used as pilot signals for characterising spatial channels.
Adaptable radiation pattern of the antenna array in a particular direction toward a user. Relative amplitude and phase shifts are applied to each antenna element to improve coverage and reduce interference.
Applications moved into the network. Compute intensive and latency sensitive applications can be hosted at the edge of the network near the source of the data.
Network slicing is a form of virtual network architecture created on top of a common shared physical infrastructure. The slices are optimised to provide the resources and network topology for the specific service to meet the particular demands without disturbing the traffic in another slice.
