IoT Future Lab

The future of the Internet of Things

The Internet of Things, or IoT for short, is a complex ecosystem that has to be considered from an end-to-end perspective in order to launch new and successful products into the market. Our IoT Future Lab is one of the most up-to-date connectivity infrastructures in Europe and we provide our customers with access to it - as a competent IoT ecosystem partner.

We develop custom prototypes and implement IoT concepts with our partners and customers at the IoT Future Lab. Modules and devices are also tested under realistic conditions with the entire spectrum of technologies that we have available in the Vodafone network.

This is where we design the future of IoT.

IoT innovations

IoT innovations

In our real IoT application scenarios we can already demonstrate how Narrowband IoT is changing our customers' lives today and provide insights into our connected future. Our application scenarios incorporate various smart city, smart home, smart metering, smart agriculture and smart tracking elements.

IoT certification

IoT certification

The IoT Future Lab can test and certify other companies' IoT devices as compliant with international standards and Vodafone requirements. Our experienced engineers are there to support you throughout the entire process.

Our IoT cases
Network Analyzer

Network Analyzer

The Network Analyzeris a product for measuring signal strength, quality, and availability of NB-IoT, LTE-M and GSM. Users can test and verify the advertised deep Indoor coverage of our Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWANs) themselves at places where the connectivity would beneeded. This offers users the investment security by let them test the LPWAN connectivity themselves before deciding for a product development.

The Giga Bee Protect

Giga Bee Protect

The Giga Bee Protect is a tracking device which helps to protect beehives from theft. It is equipped with an accelerationsensor, and it starts tracking the position of the beehive over cellular positioning once it is moved. It is having a longer battery lifetime than any tracker which uses GPS to calculate the position lasting 12 month with LTE-M and 16 monthswith NB-IoT.

HydroSense in the water

HydroSense

Wireless M-Bus is a protocol for reading battery operated meters, such as water, gas and heat meters, while driving past them in a car. It's a standardised, very universal interface suitable for short distance data transfer. The NB-IoT/LTE-M gateway was developed to enable connectivity between wM-Bus devices and the Internet of Things, and it links the two technologies. As a result, there will be no need to read meters manually in the future.

Smart Dispenser

The Smart Dispenser, born out of the recent pandemic, letsyou know the real time fill level and other insights via our own developed backend-dashboard. After collecting this data for a while, it can predict, when it will be empty. With the smart dispenser, customers can efficiently maintain and react to peak hoursin good time through real time information and data insights thereby saving costs and avoidable wastage.
