    On the way to 5G
    In 2015 we signed a letter of intent on 5G with Ericsson. As a result of this partnership, a 5G test and development system has been in operation since the beginning of 2016 in the VIP lab in Düsseldorf, and from this system we have a link to the Ericsson Eurolab in Aachen. Our objective: Together we want to expedite the development, integration and commercialisation of 5G and cloud services.

    Testing customer benefits
    With our test system we run through the typical use cases for 5G, taking into account network slicing, decentralised cloud architectures and gigabit technologies. We are also testing additional typical 5G scenarios for private and business customers.

LTE-V2X: Direct communication for the traffic of the future

The autonomous driving of tomorrow will only become a reality if all traffic participants can communicate directly with each other. LTE vehicle-to-anything (V2X) is the new 3GPP standard for direct vehicle communication. They allow the direct transmission of data without an intervening mobile network and thus speed up the data transfer many times.

More traffic safety

Detecting braking or obstacles before they are visible to the driver saves valuable reaction time. When vehicles communicate directly and with low latency traffic becomes a whole lot safer. And driving much more relaxed.

Higher traffic efficiency & less traffic jams

High traffic density, energy-efficient platooning and optimised traffic flow require continuous and seamless communication between all road users, whether mobile or stationary. This saves traffic time and nerves.

Good for the environment & wallet

LTE-V2X makes traffic flows more transparent and more controllable. This results not only in gasoline savings for drivers, but also in the reduction of fuel consumption, which is good for the environment.

LTE broadcast technology enables simultaneous transmission of videos or data to all recipients

This capability could in the future replace terrestrial broadcasting. LTE Broadcast permits a new media experience with interactive formats - anywhere and anytime. We have already successfully demonstrated this many times.
