Demanding requirements for safe traffic in the future
Fast, secure and reliable data transmission is the most important prerequisite for the use of mobile communications in the automotive sector. Assisted or autonomous driving must consider and protect individuals. We're using new technologies. And we're further developing our networks. We're working on the standardisation - to in this way optimally fulfil all of these requirements.
We've been involved in mobile communication and data transmission for more than 20 years. And in the field of autonomous driving, we've supported many research and study projects.
Our cooperation for test scenarios
In the Aldenhoven Testing Center, autonomous traffic systems of the future are being developed and tested, leading to new applications in the fields of traffic safety, vehicle interaction and infotainment. The most important aspect in all scenarios is a high-performance communication network, and that's taken care of by the Innovation Park which provides modern mobile communication technology for every application. For you this test centre is the ideal place to implement, together with us, your Vehicle-to-X applications.
The research project on the A9
Important for automation and networking in road traffic are innovative communication and the appropriate infrastructure. As a mobile communications company, we're in a really good position in this respect: On the A9 motorway in Germany we make new transmission technologies and frequencies available for Vehicle-to-X communication - and also for real-time communication. And we're naturally further developing these technologies.
Solutions for future mobility
With the completed CONVERGE research project, we have developed an open communication architecture - similar to the architecture of the Internet. An extremely secure additional layer was also defined, with which we ease data exchange between stakeholder groups - specially for traffic in the future. Convenient and safe mobility involves the exchange of up-to-date information on the traffic situation, and also early warnings of hazards.

The Vodafone Innovation Park works closely with the manufacturers of Smart Meters, and in this way provides energy providers reliability and security for the data transmission. In the Innovation Park we use the latest technologies. We simulate the conditions at the locations where the Smart Meters will subsequently be used. With the Vodafone Innovation Park we are already today making a significant contribution to the transition to alternative energy sources.

Mobility in focus
An essential feature of the GO! receiver is the Smart Featured Cellular Device (SFCD), which we designed and developed. The SFCD is modular and can be used flexibly - e.g. in the automotive sector. It's equipped with an LTE module and a powerful processor platform. Additional services provided by the Vodafone Innovation Park are mobile test network solutions in the lab and outdoors, for testing of the receiver under realistic conditions.
