Nokia Siemens Networks - A thoroughly tested partner

Since its inception, our Test & Innovation Center has been a vital facility in meeting the challenge of bringing ever more intricate services to commercial maturity. Over the years, we have worked closely with Nokia Siemens Networks to plan and implement numerous expansions of our original test network operations to create the current Test & Innovation Center. The facility has grown by approximately 7000 m² since 1998. Today, network components can be reconnected and configured easily, allowing customized test setups.

Nokia Siemens Networks is a major partner of Vodafone Germany, supplying the equipment that runs a large part of our radio and switching network. In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks' platforms form the basis of many of Vodafone's services, such as CallYa, WirelessOffice or HomeArea. With such an important position in the operation of Vodafone's network, Nokia Siemens Networks naturally plays a key role in our Test & Innovation Center, not only as a system supplier but also as a service provider.

Pioneering the newest technologies

The launch of Vodafone's first "intelligent" service, the prepaid "CallYa", meant that we needed better testing of existing network components as well as prospective network services, as both networks and services grew more sophisticated. The answer to this challenge was to build the Reference Test System (RTS) for which we chose Nokia Siemens Networks as our partner for infrastructure planning and administration.

Long before the commercial rollout of 3G technology in the live network, the very first 3G end-to-end call in a test environment was performed with Nokia Siemens Networks in 2000. The know-how built up during these early tests allowed the successful rollout of 3G in Vodafone's live network in Germany.

Ever since, the Test & Innovation Center has been the main tool for pioneering new commercial services.

The pioneering support continues today. During technology trials, such as for the IMS platform, Nokia Siemens Networks helps us to customize the system to meet the development requirements of products and services.

Solid support for external events

With Nokia Siemens Networks' support, our test center can be used to provide network and service infrastructure for events, such as for the OMA Testfest or for internal exhibitions like the Vodafone Innovation Days.

Nokia Siemens Networks also helps us to prepare the infrastructure for remote demonstrations such as at CeBIT in Hannover, as well as numerous product presentation road shows. Nokia Siemens Networks also ensures on-site operability at these events.
