Machine-to-Machine Communication will also play a central role at this year's "Innovation Days", scheduled for November 9th - 11th, 2010 in Düsseldorf. The prizes for the "Application Award" will also be conferred there.

Vodafone Germany is offering this award under the slogan "Vodafone macht Zukunft" (Vodafone shapes the future) for the third consecutive time. Prize money amounting to Euro 5.000 will be awarded in each case for the best Machine-to-Machine solution, the best industry solution and the greatest innovation. Any system house or solution developer may take part. You have until September 30th, 2010 to send in your applications, innovative products and business ideas.

MultiService Forum (MSF) 'Test Fest' Involving the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center
The MultiService Forum (MSF, www.msforum.org) is a global association of the world's leading companies that offer products and solutions in the field of IP communication. An important focus of the MSF's activities constitutes encouraging and supporting the implementation of interoperability tests based on open standards and defined end-to-end architectures. The industry-recognized "Global MSF Interoperability Events" (GMI) have recently been enhanced by means of test events that focus even more on technical aspects. A first example is the "LTE Interoperability Event", which the MSF carried out at two sites in the second half of March 2010: at the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center in Düsseldorf and the CMCC Research Lab in Peking.

Both test laboratories were interconnected by means of a VPN link. This constellation enabled the testing of more combinations of products and solutions from various manufacturers. Moreover, the interaction provided for the practically-oriented, realistic testing of Roaming scenarios.

Vodafone Test & Innovation Center Showroom Opens
On July 1st, 2010, the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center opened a showroom on its premises in Düsseldorf. This showroom was designed especially so that Vodafone's sales staff can present specific solutions to their Enterprise customers.

In the showroom, apart from Vodafone products and innovations, solutions from external system house partners are also displayed. These range from professional voice and data solutions to initial M2M applications. The exhibits are selected carefully and in line with customer requirements in all sectors.

"SIM Innovation Day" in June 2010 at the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center
 On June 22nd, 2010, the newly built showroom was also the venue for the "SIM Innovation Day", arranged by the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center and Vodafone Global Marketing. The event focussed on all aspects relating to the SIM card and possible applications of this "Subscriber Identity Module" in the future.

Authoritative representatives from more than ten national Vodafone network operator companies throughout Europe attended this specialist conference. The five SIM vendors that supply to Vodafone all over Europe took part as exhibitors: Giesecke & Devrient, Gemalto, Incard, Oberthur and Safran Morpho. They presented innovations that should be ready to market in the near future.

The aim was to show possibilities relating to the SIM card and to provide a specialist discussion forum regarding further development. The output is again also of interest to application developers and therefore the customers of the Vodafone Test & Innovation Center.

Für die beste Machine-to-Machine-Lösung, die beste Branchenlösung und die größte Innovation gibt es jeweils 5000 Euro Preisgeld. Teilnehmen können alle Systemhäuser und Lösungsentwickler. Noch bis zum 30. September 2010 können sie ihre Anwendungen, innovativen Produkte und Geschäftsideen einsenden.

Testfest des MultiService Forum (MSF) unter Beteiligung des Vodafone Test & Innovation Centers
Das MultiService Forum (MSF, www.msforum.org) ist ein weltweiter Zusammenschluss von global führenden Unternehmen, die Produkte und Lösungen im Bereich IP-Kommunikation anbieten. Ein wichtiger Schwerpunkt der Aktivitäten des MSF sind der Aufruf zur und die Unterstützung bei der Durchführung von Interoperabilitäts-Tests, die auf offenen Standards und definierten End-to-End-Architekturen beruhen. Die in der Branche anerkannten "Global MSF Interoperability Events" (GMI) werden seit kurzem durch Test-Events ergänzt, die ihren Fokus noch stärker auf technische Aspekte legen. Zudem ermöglichte das Zusammenspiel die praxisnahe, realistische Untersuchung von Roaming-Szenarien.

Showroom des Vodafone Test & Innovation Centers eröffnet
Am 1. Juli 2010 eröffnete das Vodafone Test & Innovation Center in seinem Düsseldorfer Gebäude einen Showroom. Er wurde insbesondere dafür konzipiert, dass Enterprise-Kunden neue Vodafone Produkte erleben können um sich hautnah einen Eindruck von der Einfachheit und der Innovation zu machen. Vertriebsmitarbeiter von Vodafone nutzen diesen Showroom verstärkt mit ihren Mittelstands- und Enterprise-Kunden.

In dem Showroom werden neben Vodafone Produkten und Innovationen auch Lösungen externer Systemhauspartner ausgestellt. Sie reichen von professionellen Sprach- und Daten-Lösungen bis zu ersten M2M-Anwendungen. Die Exponate werden sorgfältig ausgewählt und orientieren sich an den Kundenbedürfnissen aller Branchen.

Der neu gebaute Showroom war am 22. Juni 2010 auch Veranstaltungsort des "SIM Innovation Day", zu dem das Vodafone Test & Innovation Center und das Vodafone Global Marketing eingeladen hatten. Die Veranstaltung drehte sich rund um die SIM-Karte und mögliche Anwendungen dieses "Subscriber Identity Modules" in der Zukunft.

An der Fachtagung nahmen Verantwortliche aus über zehn nationalen Vodafone-Netzbetreibergesellschaften aus ganz Europa teil. Als Aussteller traten die fünf SIM-Lieferanten auf, die Vodafone europaweit beliefern: Giesecke & Devrient, Gemalto, Incard, Oberthur und Safran Morpho. Sie präsentierten Innovationen, die in absehbarer Zeit Marktreife erreichen können.

Zielsetzung war, die Möglichkeiten rund um die SIM-Karte aufzuzeigen und ein Fach-Diskussionsforum für deren Weiterentwicklung zu bieten. Die Ergebnisse sind wiederum auch für Applikationsentwickler und somit die Kunden des Vodafone Test & Innovation Centers interessant.
